The Requarth Lumber Co. mill traces its origins to a small turning shop that F.A. Requarth and Henry W. Meyer opened at Fourth and Wayne in 1860. Today, our mill shop continues our tradition of manufacturing the finest in finished wood products for new construction, remodeling and industrial applications.

Historical Renovation

When off-the-shelf solutions won’t work, Requarth’s renowned millwork shop will help you meet the challenge. Residential and commercial remodeling contractors, and property maintenance professionals value our expertise and precision in creating pieces. For example, custom casing and base mould patterns in specified lengths, historically accurate profiles and exterior sidings can be carefully matched to a sample of the original.

 

Our industrial customers turn to us for exactly the products they require. Plywood of any thickness and type can be sawn into custom shapes or strips. Custom wood wedges, blocks and rounds are manufactured to specifications. We’re full service and quality driven.

New Construction 

Builders rely on the Requarth mill for unique products that provide distinguishing features to the area’s finest new homes. Custom base moulds, window and door casings, chair rails, hand rails and crown moulds are simple touches that add character and quality to any home interior. Curved moulds, including circle top window jambs and casings, are a specialty in our mill.

 

Exterior wood sidings are also produced in a variety of profiles in redwood, cedar, pine and other species. Custom wood brackets and other decorative features of all sizes are also available.

 

Commercial contractors turn to the Requarth mill for chamfer strips and rusticfication manufactured and machined to any specification. A wide variety of custom products for commercial offices are also available, including moulds, railings, door frames and brackets.

Remodeling

Custom casing and base mould patterns in specified lengths, historically accurate mould profiles and exterior sidings carefully matched to a sample of the original are among the many quality jobs produced in the Requarth mill.

Industry turns to the Requarth mill for a wide assortment of specialized needs. Factories, tool and die shops, sign manufacturers, printing companies and other industrial concerns enjoy the flexibility of buying exactly the products they require. Plywood of any thickness and type can be sawn into custom shapes or strips. Custom wood wedges, blocks and rounds are manufactured in a variety of shapes and sizes to each customer’s unique specifications. Requarth Lumber’s broad inventory of southern yellow pine products also provides an opportunity for industrial customers to save on crating needs.

Mill Process  

 

Requarth Custom Mill generally requires a 15 business day lead time once your order has been placed and payment in full has been received.* 

 

Ordering process.

​

  • Define the project with sales. 
     

  • Mill personnel will search the Requarth Co.'s extensive knife library to determine if a new knife is necessary to complete the project. 
     

  • When a new knife is needed it will be added to the project quote and extend lead time  
    7-10 days.**

     

  • The quote and lead times are finalized. 
     

  • Payment in full is collected.
     

  • Project is completed per specification and lead time
     

  • Customer is called

*Lead times are a general completion date. They can change depending on the workload of the mill and delays due to product availability, approvals, knife production, and machinery.

**Requarth Co. retains ownership of all knives.
